Bio: Pocco is a very sweet bouncy boy- a big old puppy who wants to please his people and get all the snuggles that he can!! Pocco will benefit from some training in his future home, but he has a huge amount of potential and is smart, sweet, and eager to impress. He also has the biggest puppy dog eyes, so he’ll have you wrapped around his paw in no time!!
During a brief stay in a foster home Pocco did GREAT with kids as young as 1.5 years. He was well- behaved when left home alone, housebroken, and was described as friendly, calm, and a great hugger who thinks he’s a lap dog despite his size.
Here’s what his volunteer friends at the shelter have said:
“Pocco is an absolute love bug who wants nothing more than to crawl in your lap and give you kisses all day long. He may prefer getting affection to walking. However, this big guy definitely needs to get some exercise too. On our walk, he was really quite good on the leash except for stopping every so often to jump up and get scratches behind the years and snuggles. I did try to make him sit when he did this. However, he was so irresistible it was difficult to restrain myself from snuggling him. This sweet guy would do great in a loving home with lots of attention.”
“I met Pocco today and after some initial excitement, he offered a sit when asked. We went to play yard and worked on some skills- loose leash walking, sit, look, wait, and come. He is excited about treats so we also worked on taking treats gently- he’s great at catching them in the air too! We worked on some of the agility equipment and he quickly learned to jump on and even over things on command.”
“Pocco is always my first pup of the morning to walk. I often take him to the agility yard where he jumps through the hoop, over the bars, and even goes up the A frame. We work on the weave poles and practice sit, look, come, and touch. He has great leash manners after his agility yard work out! Pocco loves cuddles and seems to really enjoy leaning into me either during the walk or when we stop periodically. He enjoys rubs under his ears and under his chin and chest. He is such a sweet boy!”
Pocco is a smartypants who will thrive with a bit if guidance- he’ll make a great companion for an active person or family! Pocco would like to meet any resident dogs before heading home to make sure it’s a good fit. Please ask to meet Pocco today!!
