Bio: While not common to our desert environment, ferns offer significant aesthetic, environmental, and health benefits. They excel at air purification by filtering indoor toxins, increase humidity to soothe respiratory systems, and provide natural, low-maintenance decoration. Outdoors, their root systems prevent soil erosion, and certain edible varieties (fiddleheads) provide rich vitamins and fiber. We have a sweet young lab mix named Fiddlehead who will also bring many benefits to a future family! Fiddlehead would love to teach his family how to slow down, take their time and enjoy quiet moments with a special pup. Here’s what some of his friends at the shelter have said:
“Fiddlehead has been working hard to build confidence while in the shelter, and while still a timid boy, he has made great progress. It's clear that he takes great comfort from having a doggy friend and he spent much of our walk today checking in with his kennelmate and even trying to play along the way. Fiddlehead is so cute and goofy and will definitely do best with a furry friend to lean on in his future home. He'll need some extra TLC but this little pup has so much potential!”
“Fiddlehead leashed easily. The first thing he did out of the gate was a play bow. He was a little nervous, startled a few times, but generally was a happy, playful, good walker. We sat down in the grass, and he started at leash length, and over time moved closer. Twice he laid down within reach and accepted scratches. He’s a fun, lively dog who I think will do well in a home and will just need time to get used to his new people.”
Fiddlehead shares his kennel with another PACC pup and has been playful and social when meeting other dogs in playgroup. He’ll likely thrive with a confident, friendly dog to show him the ropes in a new home. Just like the curled top of a fiddlehead fern, our Fiddlehead is just waiting to unfurl and relax in a new home. We know that once he knows he’s safe and loved, he’ll show you what a great boy he is!
