Bio: Desert spring wildflowers paint the landscape in bright colors after winter rains. The season runs from mid-February to mid-June, with the best peak viewing happening in March and April. In our neck of the woods you may see yellow Mexican gold poppies, purple owl’s clover, and yellow brittlebush. Just as the flowers wait for the air to warm and the chance of frost to be over, some tender pups need to get away from the scary shelter and into a safe and lovingly warm home to let their guard down and really open up. We believe that’s exactly what will happen when Shygal gets into her furever home. She has shown herself to be a sensitive sweetie who really wants the comfort of a pack of her own. Here’s what some of her volunteer friends said:
“I’ve taken Shygal out twice this week and she is a timid little sweetheart with so much potential for love! The first time I took her out, she had a kennelmate who she definitely looked to for confidence. She bravely followed her out of the kennel and walked to a play yard. Her kennelmate was friendly and would approach for treats and snuggles. This buoyed Shygal and I got some gentle pets side-by- side with her next to her kennelmate. The second time I took her out, she was by herself and easy to leash up and walk out of the kennel again. We went to a play yard where she was pretty nervous about all the different sounds around us. I sat down next to her on the ground and pet her; she seemed to enjoy that and relaxed a little bit. She walked very nicely back to her kennel.”
“Shygal was shy upon meeting but allowed me to leash and unleash. She's a timid girl who would do well with a confident and friendly dog to show her the ropes. Shygal did well coming back in with encouragement, and her kennel mate leading the way.”
Shygal shares her kennel with another PACC pup and has been tolerant when meeting other dogs in playgroup. She would likely benefit from having a confident, friendly doggy buddy in a new home to help her settle in and provide companionship. If you’re looking for a darling pup who is like a flower bud just waiting for the warm spring sun to help her blossom, please ask to meet Shygal today!
