Meet Killua, a sweet, sensitive soul with a whole lot of love to give! Killua may take a little time to find his footing in new situations, but with some patience, encouragement, and a few tasty treats, he warms up beautifully. Once he feels comfortable, his affectionate side really shines. He's a certified love-bug who leans in for pets, loves attention, and may even try to climb right into your lap for a cuddle!
Killua enjoys his walks and is a curious guy who likes to take in the world around him. Sometimes new sights, sounds, or unfamiliar objects can make him hesitate, but with gentle encouragement, he finds his confidence and carries on. He'll benefit from an adopter who understands that building trust takes time and is happy to let him explore at his own pace. He has some basic manners under his belt, including sit, down, and shake a paw, and he's quite food motivated, making positive reinforcement a great way to help him learn.
Killua is looking for a home that will give him the time and reassurance he needs to settle in. He's a little more unsure of men and certain unfamiliar noises, such as garbage bags, so gentle introductions and a calm approach will go a long way. He would do best with dog-savvy, respectful children aged 10 and up who can give him space when needed. He's lived with cats before and may be able to do so again with dog-savvy cats and slow introductions. He may also enjoy having a canine companion, provided they are calm and respectful, as he's selective about his dog friends. A home with quick, direct access to the outdoors would be ideal, as hallways and doorways can make him a little nervous.
Killua came into our care with his friend Athena. While they aren't bonded and don't need to be adopted together, they could certainly find a home as a pair if someone has room in their heart for two!
If you're looking for a devoted, affectionate companion and have a little patience to help a shy guy find his confidence, Killua promises to make all that kindness worthwhile. Once you're his person, get ready for plenty of love and lap-sized cuddles!
