I am a male, orange and white Domestic Shorthair mix.
Age: The shelter staff think I am about 1 year and 5 months old.
More Info: I have been at the shelter since May 16, 2026.
***Rowan and his bff Ivy were rescued from a colony, clearly desperate to be living the good life indoors and together, forever! They are a truly bonded pair.
Rowan embodies the magical orange cat spark with justifiable poise. He has no qualms about nestling into the crook of an arm or a warm lap and staying there for as long as the human is willing and still. Rowan’s love language is definitely centred on touch, as he is happiest when he has a literal paw on the pulse of his person! He easily attaches himself to the nearest human and is most at ease when someone is always within sight and touch. Having Ivy there too, either grooming him or play-wrestling while they hang with people, is Rowan’s idea of heaven. He really doesn’t want much more than that.
Rowan is content to let Ivy be the leader and thinker, he is happy to lie back and just be the cuddler. He is a curious explorer and a door dodger, so care must be taken around front doors so he has no chance to check out the outdoors now that he is safely in! He does have a more sensitive tummy to different brands, flavours and textures (although he would wolf down just about anything offered!), and is best with a consistent, pâté-styled wet food mixed with dry kibbles for sensitive stomach to bulk it up. He would gladly hoover his meal and move on to Ivy’s if given the chance, so keeping them separate during mealtimes and Ivy’s food bowl where Rowan does not have easy access to is key to prevent Rowan from overeating.
A tidy cat with perfect elimination etiquette, Rowan prefers a clean box of his own, and takes great pleasure in doing his business in a pristine, just-cleaned litterbox.
Rowan took a bit of time to become reassured that his people and safety are no longer in doubt. Softly playing night music seems to calm him down a lot, and having access to his people whether they’re asleep or going about their day is essential for Rowan’s peace of mind. He and Ivy would watch and wait for their people to come home, and greet them with joyful meows and happy trills. A home is so much better to come back to when you know two happy cats are eagerly anticipating your arrival!
This pair of smart and sweet cats needs a special family of devoted homebodies who are generous with their love, patient in their understanding of these cats’ insecurities, and willing to open their arms and hearts to two furry souls seeking belonging.
Rowan and Ivy are steadfast and true in their love, they are ready when you are.
