Description: My name is Apple.

I am a female, grey and black Domestic Shorthair mix.
Age: The shelter staff think I am about 6 months old.
More Info: I have been at the shelter since Jun 30, 2026.
Don’t let my petite size fool you—my personality is much bigger than I am! I’m a playful little dynamo who absolutely loves to wrestle with my brother. Whether we’re chasing, pouncing, or having a full-blown kitten wrestling match, I’m always ready for the next round. And when a wand toy enters my zone? Consider it game on! I’ll chase, pounce, leap, and give that toy my absolute undivided attention.
But I also know the importance of taking a break from all that action. One of my favorite things to do is settle in by the window and carefully monitor everything happening outside. Birds, squirrels, people, mysterious movements—nothing escapes my watchful eye. I take my neighborhood surveillance duties very seriously!
With my playful spirit, curious nature, and larger-than-life personality packed into one tiny calico tabby body, I’m sure to keep my forever family entertained. I’m the perfect combination of playmate, adventurer, and window-watching supervisor.
If you’re looking for a small kitten with a BIG personality and plenty of love for playtime, I may be the perfect addition to your family!
Almost Home adopts kittens under 6 months of age in pairs, as kittens that young are not fully socialized and need a same/similar-age playmate in order not to become a nuisance to family members—including other pets in the home. Adopting kittens in pairs allows them to complete the kitty socialization process, learn good kitty manners, and have a playmate so their humans can sleep at night. We consider adopting single kittens to applicants who have another young kitty under 1 year of age, provided the applicant’s kitten is up to date on all age-appropriate vetting.
Almost Home's Adoption Requirements:
* Be at least 21 years of age
* Have the knowledge and consent of all adults living in the household
* Have written approval from owner of residence
* Have a valid government-issued photo ID with current address
* Be approved as a suitable adoptive home by Almost Home Foundation
* Be ready to make a lifetime commitment
* Live in the greater Chicagoland area (Illinois residents only)
* Pass a veterinarian reference check for current and past pets
If you are interested in Apple & a friend, please complete an online adoption application at https://almosthomefoundation.org/adopt/adopt-a-cat/ or email cats@almosthomefoundation.org.
*** Please note that Almost Home Foundation accepts only cash, checks, or Zelle for adoption fees; we do not accept debit or credit cards. ***
