I am a male, white and tan Hound mix.
Age: The shelter staff think I am about 8 years old.
More Info: I have been at the shelter since Aug 27, 2026.
Huck is an approximately 8-year-old Hound mix weighing around 50 pounds who came to us as a stray. He's our resident little old gentleman, a fellow with a heart of gold, a wonderfully gentle nature, and a knack for making friends wherever he goes.
Huck doesn't have a mean bone in his body! He greets familiar faces and complete strangers with equal enthusiasm, always happy to make another friend. He's especially fond of affection, and a good chin scratch is practically an invitation to become his new favorite person. He's the kind of dog who makes you feel like you've known him forever.
When Huck first arrived, he was quite thin, but he's since gained weight and is looking much better. He's naturally a lean-built hound and isn't particularly enthusiastic about mealtimes, although chicken is another matter entirely. Our gentleman apparently has a more discerning palate than your average hound!
Huck has done well with the other dogs he's met and showed no interest in the cats during his visit to our cat room.
At this stage in life, Huck would appreciate a home where he can enjoy the simple pleasures. A comfortable place to rest, someone to keep company, a little something tasty, and plenty of affection sound like a pretty wonderful life to him.
There's something about Huck that makes an ordinary day feel a little better. Maybe it's his gentle nature, his willingness to befriend absolutely everyone, or the way he gives his affection so freely. Whatever it is, this fellow has certainly won our hearts.
Huck has been neutered, microchipped, 4DX tested negative and updated on his vaccines and preventatives.
