Meet Amos
Oh my gosh Amos! This young pup is a happy hoot! We rescued Amos from an open intake high kill shelter. The people at this shelter begged us to take him because he is such a great dog and they couldn’t bear to take his life. We can see why once we met this boy.
Amos is a friendly, friendly young dog. He is a black and tan hound/retriever mix. He weighs 30 lbs. Now we’re not going to sugar coat this…Amos is energetic and he’s prone to jumping. He’s young, at just a year old. Right now, he has no concept of personal space. He LOVES people and just cannot get enough. We think he’d do well with kids. He might be a bit much for small toddlers unsteady on their feet, given his excitement. In time, this behavior will change as he settles and matures, but honestly, he’s so darned cute that to be the focus of his attention and love is really nice. He is a happy boy. We guarantee that Amos will brighten most any day. He zoomies like crazy, excited by attention and that people love him. Amos will need a fenced yard to keep him safe. He loves other dogs and would love an equally active dog in the home to play with. Or if that’s not possible, Amos would probably make for a great hiking or running companion. His leash manners are under construction right now, but he is smart and with consistency and patience, he’ll learn. He is incredibly sweet. Amos is a gem. A little dog with a big, beautiful personality. He is a keeper. People fought to get him out of that high kill shelter for a reason. We know that you, like us, will fall in love with this little guy if you give him a chance.

Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship, nor do we transport them to their new homes. Adoption policies and application procedures are detailed at the shelter website: http://charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/ under tab All Adoptable Animals.
Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are either owner relinquished rescued from area Animal Controls or high kill shelters. The facility usually operates at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open.
