Meet Joseph – The Independent and Goofy Akita Mix!
Joseph is true to his Akita roots—he’s strong, stubborn, and stand-offish with new people. But once he gets to know you, he’ll show off his playful side and keep you laughing with his zoomies and silly antics. Give him a toy, and he’ll entertain himself for hours figuring out how to destroy it—this boy knows how to have fun!
Joseph is also incredibly smart, which means he can get himself into a bit of trouble if left to his own devices. He thrives with structure and will need someone dedicated to giving him plenty of physical and mental exercise.
When it comes to other dogs, Joseph can be selective. He’s not a fan of males or overly pushy dogs, but he has gotten along with some female dogs that match his energy level. If his new home has another dog, they’ll need to respect Joseph’s boundaries, especially since he does resource guard his toys and space.
What Joseph Needs in a Home:
- An experienced and strong handler who can manage his leash and energy level
- No cats – Joseph thinks they’re chew toys
- A fully fenced yard where he can safely do zoomies to his heart’s content
- A home with no other pets or possibly one calm, respectful female dog
- Someone with time and patience to give him regular walks and help him burn off his energy
Despite his strong personality, Joseph is a loving and goofy boy with so much to offer the right family. With consistent training, exercise, and plenty of love, he’ll make a loyal and entertaining companion.
