Bio: Did you know that among Americans who are fortunate enough to live to 70 years old, over 65% will have a hearing loss that impacts daily life? Chances are, you and I will likely need some extra support with our hearing needs as we age. Among dogs, white dogs experience hearing loss at a higher frequency than other dogs! We’d love to introduce you to Max- a deaf senior dog who doesn’t let his hearing loss keep him from loving life and enjoying every moment! His volunteer friends think he’s the BEST, saying the following:
“Oh my goodness, I love Max! He is such a sweet and friendly old man. I entered the play yard that he was in and he came over immediately with a wiggly body, asking for pets. He’s an all-star snuggler and so affectionate!! We played a short round of “chase” around the play yard. He is a senior pup but still has plenty of spunk!! He’s a great pup!”
“Max is a sweetheart! Being deaf does not stop him from being a great walker. He takes treats nicely. I started using “thumbs up” today to show him that he was being a very good dog!”
“I had Max out in a play yard today. He had a great time running around the yard, sniffing all the smells and exploring. He traversed back and forth across the agility yard, eventually settling in so I could pet him. I crouched down next to him and we enjoyed some snuggles together. He’s a very good boy!”
Everyone who meets Max absolutely adores him- and vice versa! He’s a gentle boy who would love to spend his golden years in a comfy retirement home with a family who will dote on him and communicate in a way he understands- with love and treats! And, if you’re lucky enough to bring Max into your family, you’ll also receive free training from one of PACC’s certified dog trainers who specializes in working with deaf dogs! Max is already learning hand signals and he would love to show you what a very smart boy he is.
Max would like to meet any resident dogs before heading home to ensure a good fit or would thrive as your one and only, hogging all of the attention for himself! We love Max and know you will too- please ask to meet him today!!
