Bio: Andrew Jackson was the seventh president of the United States and currently adorns the twenty dollar bill. Our Jackson doesn’t fancy himself much of a politician, but he sure does have the popular vote here at the shelter!!
Jackson was with us once before back in 2022 but has sadly found himself back in the shelter having been found as stray. He’s a smart boy who is not cut out for shelter life and needs a new home stat!! He is experiencing a high level of stress in his kennel, but is a sweet, loving gentleman outside. Here’s what Jackson’s volunteer fans have said:
“The first time I saw Jackson in his kennel, he was playing a very loud game of tether ball with his empty metal water bucket attached to the kennel door. I knew we had to help him somehow, so we moved him to an area of the shelter that has water dispensers attached to the walls. This has definitely helped, and I have even seen him calmly relaxing at times, but he is still pretty stressed in his kennel - especially if he has a rowdy neighbor. Surprisingly, Jackson is quite easy to leash up and exit out of the kennel. I have taken him both on walks and to the yard and he really is a complete gentleman, soft and gentle outside of his kennel. In the yard this morning, he was a big ol’ love bug pretty much snuggling up to me the entire time, just wanting to receive love and affection. He has a magic way of making my mood instantly better when he relaxes into me as I pet him. I wish I could take his stress away in return. I love everything about him and hope a lucky adopter will see past his kennel presence and experience his greatness in the peace and quiet of a loving home.”
“Today was my first time meeting Jackson. He was wagging his tail, sitting perfectly at the door like a gentleman Once we started our walk, Jackson walked with a perfect loose leash! He was in tune with me and where I wanted him to go. He did his business on our walk and we stopped a few times to practice sit and look in exchange for treats. I knelt down on the ground for a little bit and gave him some pets which he was perfectly accepting of. The only time I experienced any pulling from Jackson was when we reentered the PACC gates. As with many dogs, his stress level visibly raises when we head back to the kennel. He sat nicely as I removed his leash. He's a sweet boy!”
Jackson has kept to himself when meeting other dogs in playgroup and would like to meet any resident dogs before heading home to ensure a good fit. Vote for Jackson- come meet him today!!
