Black beans, pinto beans, chickpeas, white beans, red beans, great northern beans… when it comes to beans your choices are endless. But we have a clear winner and it’s just… Beans! And the good news is that our Beans is just as good for your heart as an actual legume- in fact, studies show that owning a dog may reduce your risk of heart disease! What are you waiting for?!?

Beans came to the shelter as a stray and when we were able to track down his person, they had moved out of state and were heartbroken to find that Beans had wound up at the shelter. They told us that Beans is a great dog and a sweetheart, and we agree!! He’s a wiggly, friendly boy who loves his people and his daily walks.

Beans spent about a month in a foster home- here’s what his foster told us:

“Beans did great in the weeks that I fostered him. He’s a very loyal, sweet boy. He’s very treat motivated and understands sit and basic commands. He is kennel trained and does well when left home alone. He also had no accidents in the house. He’s just an awesome boy that needs a good home!”

And here’s what volunteers at the shelter have said:

“I love Beans and take him on a walk every chance that I get. He is sweet, calm and a great companion. He has the sweetest face and is a very good boy!”

“Beans is a slow and loose leash walker and also likes to wander the yard. He will sometimes offer his paw for a treat and allows petting. Very good boy!

“My first time walking Beans. He was a wonderful loose leash walker who checked in with me frequently during our time outside. He has a solid sit and offers his paw for a scratch or treat. He seemed treat motivated and eager to learn.”

Beans would like to meet any resident dogs before heading home to ensure a good fit. Do your heart a favor and ask to meet Beans today!!

Available for foster care (2+ weeks) or adoption through PACC.
Interested parties:
Must visit PACC before the 3:00PM Sunday, Sept 28, 2025 deadline to meet with a counselor who will review notes and introduce you to the dog to ensure that it’s a good fit. Some dogs may also require an introduction to any dogs they may potentially live with.

Home Management Plan

1) Dog Introduction Required
• Stiff/Possible stalking behaviors having the potential to tip into an altercation in playgroup

2) Dog Selective
• Must meet all dogs in the home prior to adoption.
• Selective dogs like to choose their friends; they may like some dogs and dislike others.
• Muzzle training can be a useful tool for initial introductions to new dogs.
• NO DOG PARKS.

3) Recommend No Other Dogs
• Due to behaviors seen in Playgroup and dog introductions.

4) No Small Dogs
• altercation with small dog in previous home.
