About:
Blaine and his brother arrived at PACC as strays in need of a bit of extra socialization and TLC. Here’s what one volunteer said about their journey so far:
“When Blaine and his brother first arrived at PACC they were very scared and had no leash experience. It took us a while to get them walking but we eventually made it to the park where we all sat. They were comfortable with petting and eating treats gently from our hands and walked better on the way back. The next time we took them was much easier. Once we got them across the street from the shelter they began to make good progress, walking nicely on leash through the park. They have very friendly personalities, especially when away from the shelter.”
Blaine would love to continue his progress in a secure home with a patient family who will help him feel safe and learn new skills through positive reinforcement. He shares his kennel with another PACC pup and has been social and tolerant when meeting other dogs in playgroup. He’d like to meet any resident dogs before heading home to ensure a good fit. If you can help Blaine, please ask to meet him today!
Available for foster care (30+ days) or adoption through PACC.
Interested parties:
Must visit PACC before the 5:00PM Monday OCTOBER 13th deadline to meet with a counselor who will review notes and introduce you to the dog to ensure that it’s a good fit. Some dogs may also require an introduction to any dogs they may potentially live with.

Home Management Plan
1) Needs Training
• Leash training
• Work on positive reinforcement with your new pup.
• Reach out to TOP Dogs (topdogshelp@gmail.com) or an outside professional trainer for assistance.
2) Handling Issues due to being undersocialized with people
• Go slow and at the dogs pace, does not like forced handling
• Your new pet may fear bite if handling is forced, give your new pet time to decompress.
• Dog needs a dragline for at least 2 weeks or until he is comfortable in his new home.
3) DOG INTRO RECOMMENDED due to being assertive and having awkward interactions with other dogs, mounting and only semi respecting corrections seen in playgroup. Making improvements. Would do best with a dog who is confident, tolerant and gives good corrections
4) Extreme Flight Risk
• Blaine needs to go home with a strong handler.
• Keep a dragline on them for at least 2 weeks, this will help you handle the dog easier.
• When outside, make sure to keep a hold of their leash until they have settled into the home.
• Don’t leave them outside unattended, make sure you monitor them outside.
• Send home with martingale collar and flat clip leash
5) On Prozac
• Do NOT stop medication without consulting your personal vet.
• MUST be tapered - stopping abruptly may have negative effects.
6) Undersocialized: has made improvements since first coming to the shelter.
• Blaine needs to go home with a strong handler. Due to fear behaviors, they may panic over small things or noises and could potentially attempt to flee by bolting.
• Needs time to decompress at home, this could take 3 weeks to 3 months or longer.
• If dog-friendly, a confident dog could help bring them out of their shell.
• Go slow with your new dog and do not force handling, as this could make the dog fear bite.
• Your new dog will not be affectionate immediately after adoption; they will need patience.
• MUST go home with a martingale collar and flat clip leash.
