Bio: Fans of the author F. Scott Fitzgerald (or the actor Leonardo DiCaprio) undoubtedly know that Jay Gatsby was a character with less than admirable character (though he did throw spectacular parties). Our sweet Gatsby is the opposite of his namesake- he’s a total lovebug with a friendly affectionate demeanor! Gatsby spent about a month and a half in a foster home- here’s what his foster said:
“Gatsby is a Velcro dog that loves to cuddle and get butt scratches. The great news is he doesn’t need a crate. He hasn’t touched anything in my or my neighbor’s home (she watched him a couple of days) while we were away. He has been learning not to pull on the leash, so most of our walks are with a loose leash. Gatsby is a quiet dog and only barked if he heard noise right outside my door. Gatsby will not bug you while eating- he would go to his dog bed when I was eating. He sleeps through the night on the couch or your bed and he is potty trained. He can be very playful at times, then he is a couch potato. Gatsby would love an active family to go on hikes with. I wish I could keep him- I have fallen in love with this goofball.”
Here’s what some of Gastby’s friends at the shelter have said:
“Gatsby is such a sweetheart! I met him for the first time today and he was friendly and easily allowed me to enter his kennel. He was excited and easy to leash up. He is a curious boy who loves to follow his nose on his walks. He was quite interested in the birds and mice and all the critters that we passed; he wished he could have been off leash to chase them! At one point I bent down to pet him and he surprised me with kisses to my face and ear, giving me a big ‘ol wet willy! Silly boy! After our walk we went over to a play yard for a few minutes and he just stood by my side enjoying pets, giving me occasional kisses. He’s a certified sweetie!!”
“Gatsby is a sweet guy and an excellent loose leash walker. Away from the kennel he is mellow and the bestest boy. He knows many tricks and takes treats softly.”
“Gatsby is one of my favorite pups to walk. He walks really well on leash and loves snuggles and affection. Sits perfectly for treats too. He would be a great adventure buddy for someone active.”
Gatsby would like to meet any potential furry roommates before heading to a new home to ensure a good fit. If you’re a fan of the roaring 20s and are looking for a dog to match your vibe, Gatsby is your guy! Come meet him today!
