About: The Single-Serve Sweetheart Oreo
Go figure—he's black and white, and yes, his name is Oreo! But this handsome, 1 year and 3-month-old Pit Mix is far sweeter than a cookie and just as irresistible, provided you can give him the right recipe for success.
Oreo is a young, energetic boy who was loved by his family for a year after they found him. He is incredibly treat-motivated and has tons of untapped potential, but he struggled in his previous, busy home environment because he didn't have the structure he desperately craves.
He is not a fussy eater, but he is fussy about sharing. His previous family noted that he is a talented, but still very immature, puppy who needs a highly experienced home to guide him.
The Fine Print (Oreo's Recipe for Success)
Oreo is ready to be your most loyal companion, but to keep him and everyone else safe and happy, his home must be managed with specific ingredients:
• No Other Pets (Single-Serve Only): Oreo is dog-selective and recently failed his in-shelter behavior review after starting an altercation in playgroup. He also resource-guards his food from other dogs. Oreo must be the only pet in the home.
• Kids and Boundaries: His previous family noted that he would sometimes growl at the 10 and 12-year-old children. For this reason, Oreo requires a home with no children, or strictly only children aged 12 years and older who are experienced with dog body language and boundaries.
• Brain Work is Required: When left unsupervised, Oreo can get bored, and boredom leads to destruction! He has a history of ripping up carpet and chewing things like garden hoses. He needs an adopter committed to providing lots of daily enrichment (puzzles, frozen Kongs, specialized toys) and crate training to keep him safely contained when you can't monitor him.
Oreo has the looks, the motivation, and the heart to be an incredible dog—he just needs a dedicated owner to finish his training.
If you can offer this smart, treat-motivated boy a structured, secure life as your only companion, please come to PACC and ask to meet him before his deadline expires at close of business on Saturday, November 15th, 2025!

Interested parties:
Must visit PACC before the COB November 13th, 2025, deadline to meet with a counselor who will review notes and introduce you to the dog to ensure that it’s a good fit.

Home Management Plan

No Other Dogs
• due to resource guarding, altercations seen both in previous home and in shelter.

Resource Guarding Food From Dogs
• Feed your new dog at set times. Do NOT free feed your new dog with other dogs.
• Set up separate SAFE spaces where dogs cannot assess each other. HIGHLY recommend feeding in kennels or separate rooms.
• Do not offer treats to multiple dogs at the same time. Treat time should be separate.

Children Caution: kids older than 12 years would do best in a home with no kids
• Kids should not be left alone with any dog, always monitor interactions between your child and dog.
• Rough housing or grabbing at the dog could cause stress to the dog leading to unwanted behaviors.
• Give a dog a safe space to escape the kids. HIGHLY recommend crate training.
• Keep draglines on for at least two weeks or until the dog is comfortable with the children.

Destructive Behaviors
• Crate training can help with destructive behaviors.
• Some dogs get bored easily, offering activities such as frozen kongs, enrichments, music and TV sounds can keep them busy and help alleviate stress.
