About:
The name Dulcie means “sweet” or “sweetness”, so what better name for a super sweet shelter pup?? Here’s what some of Dulcie’s fans at the shelter have said:
“In the play yard Dulcie went around exploring and sniffing, but preferred to
be by my side. Very treat motivated, very smart- she knows sit and shake. Once she warmed up she really enjoyed petting and cuddling. Very sweet good girl.”
“Dulcie is such an adorable girl! She was friendly and excited when I came to leash her up this morning. She was easy to leash and take out to a play yard. Once in the yard she was snuggly and quickly rolled over so that I could rub her velvety belly. We went out for a walk and I called her Dulcie, the Explorer! She loved to follow her nose and smell all of the interesting scents along the way. She is as sweet as her name!”
Dulcie has been tolerant when meeting other dogs in playgroup and would like to meet any resident dogs before heading home to ensure a good fit. Satisfy your sweet tooth and ask to meet Dulcie today!!
Available for foster care (30+ days) or adoption through PACC.
Interested parties:
Must visit PACC before the COB Monday October 26th, 2026 deadline to meet with a counselor who will review notes and introduce you to the dog to ensure that it’s a good fit. Some dogs may also require an introduction to any dogs they may potentially live with.
Home Management Plan
SNA B:
1) Dog Introduction Required:
• Reason: Instigated in-kennel altercation where she injured other dog
• Slow, Structured Introductions: Introductions must be gradual and carefully managed in neutral territory. Monitor all body language closely, and end sessions on a positive note.
• Muzzle Training: It is recommended to condition Dulcie to a comfortable basket muzzle before introductions. This provides safety and allows for positive experiences during early meetings.
• No Dog Parks: Dulcie should not attend dog parks or other uncontrolled environments. These settings can overwhelm or trigger negative interactions, making progress more difficult.
• Behaviors could improve with proper management and/or professional training.
2) In Shelter Decline:
• Dulcie has begun to decline behaviorally in the shelter environment due to ongoing stress or overstimulation. This may present as increased reactivity, withdrawal, or sensitivity.
• Decompression Needed: Once in a home, they will need dedicated time and patience to decompress and re-adjust to life outside of the shelter.
• Initial Transition: It’s normal for dogs experiencing shelter stress to be overstimulated or unsettled for the first few days to weeks. Allow them to set the pace for interactions and provide structure, routine, and positive reinforcement to support their adjustment.
