Bio: Foster Q & A!
Basics
1. Housetrained? Yes, but with access to a dog door.
2. Experience with dogs? Has done great with other dogs.
3. Experience with cats? Unknown, but other dogs from his group have done well.
4. Experience with kids? Unknown, but he has a great temperament and I see no reason why he wouldn't do well.
5. Details on leash training, crate training and other training commands known: He does pretty good on a leash. He's crate/x-pen trained, but doesn't really need it. He's got a lot of the basics, but we're still working on "stay".
6. Details on personal history, if known (how did he/she arrive at the shelter): Elden came to the shelter as part of a hoarding case. He'd lived outside and had very little exposure to the big wide world. He's adapted very well and will probably continue to do so with the right people.
This Dog’s Characteristics
Please provide as much detail as possible. Specific behavior examples/experiences that illustrate their qualities are a big help!
1. Describe cuddling behavior/affection level: He's happy to do his own thing, but will come in for attention. He's not pushy, but loves hugs and pets. He also cuddles with Aspen, one of his family members that came in with him.
2. Describe play behavior and favorite toys: He likes to chase a toy a few times, then settles in to chew on it. He loves hard rubber toys and Nylabones that he can chew on. The black Kong stuffie and a Jolly Ball toy are his favorites. Elden never had toys before so there's been a bit of a learning curve. Once he learned what's his and what's not, he's been really good.
3. Describe activity level: He likes exercise and stimulation, but settles down nicely.
4. Look into the dog’s eyes. What is he/she telling you? He's a sweet, mellow soul. He's happy to be adored in a home.
5. What are the best adjectives to describe this dog? Sweet, mellow, loving, as well as young and energetic.
6. What does the dog specifically DO that exemplifies those adjectives (ex. Maybe a good adjective for the dog is “loving”. You know that because he lays his head in your lap.) He loves to be hugged while having his body petted. He's content to curl up next to you on the couch. He's just happy to be here.
7. What are the dog’s best qualities? He's so tolerant of all the other dogs in my house. He usually just moves on from a situation. Once in a while, he'll give an appropriate correction, but immediately moves past it. He used to get spooked easily, but he's become such a steady presence in my home.
8. What are your favorite things about this dog? Watching him blossom into a family dog has been wonderful. He really is a certified VGB (very good boy). He's just sweet.
9. What is/are your favorite physical characteristic(s) of this of this dog? He's like Tigger. He's made out of rubber and string. When chewing on a toy, the look of unbridled bliss is priceless.
10. What would the ideal home look like for this dog? I would love it if he and Aspen A867763 could go to a home together, but that may not be possible. He'd do best in a home with at least one other confident dog and people that want to include him in their lives. Elderoni has come so far and should be cherished.
11. Anything else that would make this dog stand out to an adopter? He's such an easy-going dog. I'm not sure I've had a foster that was easier, as to temperament.
