Bio: Canine intelligence is typically categorized into three main types: instinctive, adaptive, and working and obedience. Instinctive intelligence is the innate, breed-specific ability a dog is born with, such as herding, pointing, retrieving, or guarding. Adaptive intelligence represents a dog's capacity to learn from their environment and solve problems independently. Working and obedience intelligence is often referred to as "school learning"; this is how well a dog learns commands and tasks instructed by humans. We think that one intelligence that is missing from this list is emotional intelligence- the innate ability that certain dogs have to respond to their humans’ emotions with attention, affection, and love. While all types are important, we think that dogs with emotional intelligence are pretty special and our girl Cassidy seems to have high levels of this! Volunteers think that her beautiful brown eyes communicate so much, with one sharing:

“Cassidy is an absolutely darling lady! She was very polite and sitting and waiting patiently to get leashed up in her kennel. Once in the play yard she explored for a little bit and then came over for love. She nuzzled her way under my arm and looked up with her wise brown eyes as I scratched her chest. We made a special connection and I wished I could take her home and give her the life she deserves. She is gentle, sweet and tolerant with her younger kennelmate. She was friendly and curious when people walked by the play yard. Overall, she is a fantastic girl! She is an old soul who is ready to know the finer things in life!”

Cassidy shares her kennel with another PACC pup and has been playful when meeting other dogs in If you’re looking for a pup to spoil for the rest of her days, come meet sweet Cassidy today!
