About: Jax is a super handsome and very good boy who was adopted from The Humane Society and spent two years in a home before being surrendered to PACC. His former family told us that he has done well with kids and with both small and large dogs. He was well- behaved when left home alone, was house trained, and was described as an affectionate couch potato who loves toys, likes car rides and knows tricks. What he truly loves the most though is being close to his humans!!
Jax has quickly endeared himself to staff and volunteers at the shelter, with one friend sharing:
“I fell in love with Jax the first time I met him- he is friendly, happy and just such a good boy! I have walked him many times and most often spend time with he and his kennelmate in a play yard. Jax is always well- behaved, affectionate and perfect- a smart, handsome GREAT dog!!”
Available for foster care (30+ Day) or adoption through PACC.
Interested parties:
Must visit PACC before the COB Sunday October 11th deadline to meet with a counselor who will review notes and introduce you to the dog to ensure that it’s a good fit. Some dogs may also require an introduction to any dogs they may potentially live with.
Home Management Plan
1) Bite History
• Incident Details: moderate bite: victim had bent over and went to pick something up under a blanket, when the dog growled and bit her possibly guarding her grandson
2) Resource Guards Attention From People
• Jax may guard attention or affection from certain people, particularly those they are bonded to.
• Muzzle Training: Muzzle training is strongly recommended for all new introductions to ensure safety and reduce stress for both Jax and others.
• Professional Support: Establish clear boundaries early and seek guidance from a qualified trainer to help manage and modify guarding behavior.
• Management at Home: Create a calm, designated space where they can relax when guests arrive or when attention is divided. Avoid scolding or punishing guarding behaviors - focus on redirection and rewarding calm, appropriate responses.
• Recognize Warning Signals: Watch for signs that they are becoming uncomfortable, such as stiffening, growling, or placing themselves between people. These behaviors should be respected by giving space and calmly redirecting their focus.
