Age: The shelter staff think I am about 5 years old.

05/11/26 18:00 Luke has returned from foster, and has recurrent skin itch despite apoquel, which could be due to persistent infection, ingesting non-hypoallergenic food, or allergy-related skin inflammation that is failing to respond appropriately to apoquel. Close control over diet/intake is needed outside of a shelter setting, close monitoring of pruritus scores, and routine once-weekly baths are needed until skin is better controlled. Still seeking urgent rescue as his skin disease is too severe to appropriately manage and monitor in a shelter setting. With a rescue, his skin disease could be managed by a capable general practitioner, but given severity of his allergic skin disease, he'd greatly benefit from being managed/overseen by a veterinary dermatologist in the area.
04/29/26 19:08 Luke's skin continues to improve on antibiotics, apoquel (Anti-itch), medicated baths and shampoos and hypoallergenic diet. Luke is likely to need apoquel or similar allergy meds daily long term, and hypoallergenic diet long term. Very handleable and friendly but has demonstrated medical-related reactivity, particularly around his ears and requires sedation for medical treatments. Rectum remains intact. Diarrhea is improved. He is steadily ganing weight. Unable to reassess heart murmur at latest vet check due to medical reactivity. Still seeking urgent rescue.
03/30/26 17:04 Purse string suture remains intact, rectum has not yet re-prolapsed, pt is having firmer stools (fecal score 4-5/7) than on intake. Skin slowly improving on antibitoics and anti-itch medications.
3/13/26 Luke is a 4 year castrated pit bull who presented to shelter with a heart murmur, rectal prolapse, chronic uncontrolled skin allergies with secondary infection, and underweight with diarrhea.
Diarrhea and weight loss may be related to a chronic gut disease (e.g. food allergy or IBD or other) or unrelated to one another.
Luke is in need of urgent rescue to a rescue group financially able to rehabilitate and maintain a severely skin allergic dog. Patient may need dermatology consult, cardiology consultation, and/or internal medicine consult in the future for his various comorbidities.
Shelter has replaced rectum with purse string suture on 3/13 and started pt on hypoallergenic diet, steroids, antibiotics for skin. Skin culture was performed to guide antibiotic therapy.
