Doug (A1318196) was placed on final on 02/04/2025

Summary of Behavior: During his time at the shelter, Doug has been easy to leash and exits his kennel without issue. Doug has shown affiliation towards his handler along with allowing handling. However, it is important to note that Doug exhibits significant reactivity towards other dogs. He tends to engage in aggressive behaviors, such as fence fighting, when in proximity to other dogs and reacts strongly while passing them in the yard. Doug has been placed in a foster home, where an incident occurred during a walk. He encountered two small dogs and exhibited aggressive behavior, growling and barking. He pulled the leash out of the foster's hand while lunging towards the small dogs. Doug made contact with the two small dogs, but the foster was able to secure Doug before any substantial injuries occurred. The foster has also observed that Doug becomes fixated on other dogs within his line of sight and is prone to charging at them.
We do not have the resources available to care for this pet with these specific needs at this time.

Path Forward: Rescue must commit and *pull* Doug by 5 PM on 02/14/2025, or Doug will be humanely euthanized. Rescue will also need to have a waiver signed and submitted prior to leaving with the dog. We will consider an extension for 72 hours with rescue commitment.

WeCare Matrix: U/U Aggression: Dog Cases of injuries to other dogs (owner history or observed), fighting with other dog(s). May be able to co-exist or bond with a few dogs (dog- selective), but continues to show aggression to many dogs. Cannot be managed in an average home. BEH

When Doug isn't in the prescence of other animals, he is a gentleman. He has spent time in our offices, and is quiet, polite and housetrained. He would make a wonderful companion for someone who likes the homelife. If you are a "one-dog-max" household, Doug is your guy.

Dog was returned due to attacking two dogs while on a walk. Previous fosters stated that "Doug" is very reactive on his walks, barking and pulling towards them in an aggressive manner. On their most recent walk "Doug" saw two small dogs and pulled to them resulting in the handler losing control, he bit one of the small dogs and before more damage occured hander was able to pull dog away.

In the fosters home he did well one on one and got along well with family and those coming over, and inside of the shelter he shows affiliation with staff but continue to struggle with walks. Due to his reactivity and incident in previous foster home, dog needs rescue.
