DOG DAY OUT REPORT

Today I: met a new friend who took me out for a long walk. To get there though we had to ride in a car, which was quite scary! My new friend had to help me in, and I was happy to get out when we got to the park. Once we got walking, I saw lots of bikes which at first were a bit spooky but then I got used to them. I also saw lots of other dogs; I was curious and wanted to say hi. I wanted to chase the squirrels, bunnies, and birds we saw but my new friend wouldn’t let me (I knew not to mess with the geese though).

Three Words to Describe Me are: reserved, gentle, inquisitive
Notes from My Walker: Rae is a reserved boy; I think he is pretty stressed and would benefit from more time out. He is quite scared of the car – despite lots of treats and encouragement he did need to be picked up. He does fine while driving but definitely wants out once you get where you’re going. He was a bit nervous on the trail, checked behind us a lot and did start a bit at loud noises or unexpected objects (ex. a shopping cart). After walking for awhile he did start to relax. He is interested in other dogs and people and would like to approach but does not lunge/bark and is easily redirected to continue walking. Lunged at the first bike we saw but it was going very fast, and I think he was just spooked/stressed – he just watched all the other bikes that went by. Walks well on the leash, walks at the extent of the leash but rarely pulls. Will try to chase squirrels, rabbits, small birds if they are close enough. Likes treats but if very stressed will refuse (ex. getting in the car). I’m pretty sure he knows sit but tends to ignore, worked on it a bit during water breaks when there were no distractions, and he was focused on the treats. Overall a sweet & good boy just stressed/nervous.
