Chilo is a 5 year old, neutered bull terrier who came in May of this year. Chilo showed up at one of our emergency partners in need of care. He was turned in as a stray that had a front leg injury to Medvet. When his owner didn't have money to provide care, he was transferred to us as a "euthanasia request". Our vets noted that Chilo had most likely been hit by a car a few days prior and he had chewed off several of his toes possibly due to the pain he was in prior to arriving at Medvet. Our team went to work getting his foot fixed up and getting him on the right path to recovery. He managed one day to get out of his cone and cause further damage to his cast and limb overnight so our vet team did end up deciding to amputate as his self mutilation was continuing and impeding his healing. Once he had his leg amputation he was able to show his personality better. He's very treat motivated, he likes toys, has a great sit, and down. You do want to remind him to be easy (gets excited) and then he will take treats gently. He has a very strong prey drive and his previous owner told us he had killed a cat but did not provide further details. At the shelter, he does best with walks and yard time to play and run about and play with toys. He would do best as an only pet.
