Description: My name is Beast.
I am a male, black and white Pit Bull Terrier.

Age: The shelter staff think I am about 3 years old.
More Info: I have been at the shelter since Jul 07, 2026.
Beast has been placed on FINAL 08/21/26.
He has been given a-72 hour extension.
He must be pulled prior to 5:00 PM on 8/27/26 or he will be humanely euthanized.
Beast has continuously demonstrated signs of high Fear, Anxiety, and Stress (FAS) while housed in the shelter. When initially approached at the front of his kennel, Beast may come forward; however, his behavior quickly changes. While a couple of volunteers are able to remove Beast from his kennel, he requires a toy to help prevent leash biting. However, there have been multiple reports of Beast baring his teeth, growling, and lunging at staff, making it unsafe for staff to remove him from his kennel.
Beast has consistently demonstrated FAS 5 in the kennel, indicating a severe level of fear, anxiety, and stress. His ongoing kennel behavior suggests that the shelter environment is significantly impacting his emotional well-being and contributing to a poor quality of life while in the shelter.
Given Beast's persistent high FAS, defensive kennel behavior, and poor quality of life in the shelter environment, placement should be with an experienced rescue organization that can provide a lower-stress environment, appropriate decompression time, and individualized behavioral support.
Beast is available for rescue only.
Path Forward: Rescue partners must commit to and pull Beast by 5:00 PM on 8/27/2026, or Beast will be humanely euthanized.
EXTENSION REQUEST PROCESS
A Rescue Group (RG) may request an extension of an animal's Needs Rescue Final Date no later than 10:00 a.m. on the noted final date via email to SJRescue@sanjoseca.gov with a cc to a Division Manager or Shelter Operations Supervisor.
