Age: The shelter staff think I am about 2 years and 10 months old.
Found At: I was found at Rockport Ave/Piedmont Rd
More Info: I have been at the shelter since Dec 21, 2025.
Mickey has been at the shelter since December and he has been patiently waiting for his new home. He has been experencing a lot of kennel stress from being at the shelter for so long. Because of this, this sweet boy is very loud in his kennel but once he is out he calms down. Mickey loves to go on walks and play with toys. He has been known to fixate on cats so a home without cats would be best for him.
Mickey has been waiting for someone to bring him home and leave the stress of the kennel behind. All he needs is someone who will give him that patience to learn. Will that be you?

FAS 2-3 in kennel. Dog is constantly vocalizing in kennel, growling and barking. Dog is pacing and spinning. Needs rescue urgent. Dog has been here since December with no improvement of FAS and kennel presence.

What to know about Mickey:
Mickey enjoyed a well-paced walk through the Cambrian Park neighborhood and downtown Willow Glen. He took occasional water breaks, during which he showed his affectionate and silly side. He wasn’t fazed by the people or dogs that passed by, but he definitely kept his eyes and ears alert for any little critters along the way.
What to know about Mickey:
• Rides great in the car—happily jumps right in and settles as a calm passenger
• Strong, alert pup who would do best with an experienced and active dog parent
• Smart and eager to learn—he sits nicely for treats, making him an excellent candidate for ongoing training
• Very interested in little critters and would do best in a home without small animals

MICKEY is a sturdy, affectionate dog who enjoys treats and calm petting and is comfortable with hands-on handling, including paws. Once he’s out of his kennel, he’s fairly easy to manage and returns without issue.
He’s shown polite, neutral behavior with some dogs at the fence and stayed calm even when other dogs reacted to him. In the kennel, MICKEY can be barrier reactive and vocal with certain dogs, and he pulls hard on leash. He’s also very fixated on cats, so a cat-free home is recommended. MICKEY will do best with an experienced, confident adopter who can continue leash training, manage dog introductions thoughtfully, and provide ongoing care for his skin allergies.
With the right match, he has the potential to be a loyal, people-loving companion

What I did today:
Mickey went on a 3-mile walk in a residential neighborhood, where he enjoyed getting some fresh air and received many compliments from the neighbors. After the walk, he went to Pup Plaza to play with toys and got lots of pets and belly scratches from his human friends. He kept thanking them by cuddling and giving lots of kisses, he loves to be loved!
What to know about this dog:
• Trainable – Treat motivated and a people pleaser - already knows the following commands: Sit, touch, and shake - could benefit from leash training, he is strong and can pull hard
• Has prey drive - Would do best in a home without cats
• Not reactive to other dogs, small or large
• Fantastic in the car – He was calm, jumped in and out without any issues
