***Pork Chop (A1400195) has been placed on final on 06/25/26***
He must be pulled prior to 5:00 PM on 07/10/26 or he will be humanely euthanized.
Pork Chop originally came to ACS in December of 2025. He was confiscated from his owner for an animal cruelty investigation. Within weeks of his arrival he was suffering from severe kennel stress and struggling with living in the shelter environment. He was sent to a rescue in April, and now is back at ACS.
Pork Chop continues to show the same behavior as previously documented; flailing and vocalizing on leash, in addition to leash biting when he is removed from the kennel.
We see many positive behaviors from Pork Chop when he is outside his kennel with a competent handler. He loves to play with toys in the yard, he comes when called and seems to enjoy pets. He enjoys playing with other dogs, but can be a little bit much for many dogs with his “Rough and Rowdy” playstyle, and needs a slow introduction to other dogs.
Pork Chop’s risk assessment scored him at “Extreme”. His behavioral needs are related to his extreme kennel frustration, and he has been displaying signs of under-stimulation in the kennel. He has been receiving prescribed behavioral medication, which has not been providing a meaningful beneficial effect. His case has been reviewed by a veterinary behaviorist, who made the following comments:
“Outcome Options
Several factors must be considered:
1. Handler Safety: The escalation of leash-mouthing to hand-targeting, and his inability to be redirected by food or toys, creates a physical risk for staff and volunteers during routine interactions.
2. Welfare: Pork Chop demonstrates clear confinement/kennel related stress, and further kenneling will actively deteriorate his welfare. It is not acceptable to continue housing an animal in an environment that will certainly cause further mental suffering.”
Ideal placement: A Foster-based rescue, where he can decompress from living in a kennel environment for the past 6+ months. We also recommend slow introductions to other pets who may appreciate his “Rough and Rowdy” playstyle. It is also strongly recommended that he go to a home without young children.
Based on these observations, Pork Chop has been placed on FINAL status due to the reported behaviors at the shelter and concern for future escalation.
Path Forward: Rescue or adopter must commit and *pull* Pork Chop by 5 PM on 07/10/26, or Pork Chop will be humanely euthanized. Rescue will also need to have a waiver signed and submitted prior to leaving with the dog.
****PORK CHOP IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR FOSTER OR ADOPTION, RESCUE ONLY****
EXTENSION REQUEST PROCESS:
As Pork Chop urgently needs to get out of the shelter, he is being given a 2-week final timeline. No extensions will be considered.

Pork Chop is on NEEDS RESCUE URGENT because of increasing frustration in and out of the kennel. He will mess up his kennel even when given toys. Pork Chop needs an adopter or rescue that will help him find an outlet and give him proper mental stimulation. He is also leash biting and jumping on his walker when out of the kennel. Pork Chop needs an experienced home that can help him learn and that will train him. He already knows sit and down and is happy to learn more tricks. Help Pork Chop become the good boy we all know he can be.
