"Copper"
Copper is a young adult male intact lab mix (77 lb)
This dog was found on a freeway and is suspected to have been hit by a car. Despite this, he is **bright, stable, and ambulatory on all four legs**, with only a toe touching left hind-limb limp.
X-rays revealed **hairline fractures of the midshaft of the left tibia**. Thankfully, the fractures are minimally displaced, and no other fractures or significant abnormalities were found on chest, pelvic, or limb radiographs.
The medical team believes these fractures may be able to heal with **strict cage rest and pain management**, without the need for surgery or splinting. He will need a quiet, low-activity environment for 6-8 weeks and continued monitoring while he heals. Recheck xrays are recommended at ~2 month mark.
