I am a spayed female, tabby-brn Domestic Shorthair.
Age: The shelter staff think I am about 13 weeks old.
Found At: I was found at Blk 4100 Santa Rita Way
More Info: I have been at the shelter since Aug 07, 2026.
10/26/26 13:33 Whimze was painfully distended again on 10/21 (2 days after first sedated enema) and a repeat enema was performed that day. X-rays performned 10/21 confirmed a significantly distended distal colon just proximal to rectum, concerning for megacolon. Today, 10/26, after being on miralax, lactulose, subcutaneous fluids and a highly digestible diet, Whimze is more comfortable without any painful rectum distension. She is passing small, semi-formed stools (not adequately sized) and she is intermittently "scooting" suggestive of anal discomfort. She has normal anal tone but has a **developmental abnmormality of the anus leaving it "tear-drop" shaped rather than a normal circular shape**. There may be functional abnormalities to the anus in addition to the abnormal shape, which may be contributing to her defecation issues. She is in need of rescue FINAL with review date of 11/6/26. She may need gastrointestinal diet (such as Purina EN, Hills ID or similar) and laxatives (e.g. miralax or lactulose, or both) long-term if constipation issues recur if the laxatives are weaned and she becomes distended again with painful straining. Available for rescue or committed adopter who understands that this is a kitten with known medical issues that are likely to be chronic in nature.
10/19/26 14:19 Whimze is an 11 week old spayed female kitten who was noted to be straining excessively. She was found with significant buildup of feces in her rectum, just behind the anus and her colon was distended. Feces were removed and enema were performed, and it was noted at the time of examination today that she has poor anal tone and possibly a developmental abnormality of the anus. Kitten is being started on stool softeners and subcutaneous fluids, and stool production/fecal continence will be monitored over the next week. In need of urgent rescue.
