Meet Bonita, a 6-year-old Calico beauty who came to PAC on April 11, 2025, after her owner moved. Her previous person described her as a “feral cat” who had lived in a bedroom for four years and only tolerated limited affection — but once Bonita arrived, we quickly learned that wasn’t the full story.
Bonita wasn’t feral — she was frightened. When she first came in, she growled (classic Calico sass ??), but never once tried to bite. In fact, our staff were able to pet her right away. All she needed was a little safety and understanding.
Bonita is FIV positive, but she’s otherwise healthy and living her best “indoor diva” life. In the shelter, you’ll usually find her tucked safely inside or underneath her bed, watching the world from her cozy hiding spot. In her foster home, she prefers to keep to herself in her own room, just like she was used to in her old life.
She’s still learning that the world isn’t so scary. One sudden sound or curious pet can send her back to her favorite hideaway — earning her the affectionate nickname “the closet gremlin.” ??
Bonita is a sensitive soul who thrives on calm energy, patience, and a predictable routine. With time, kindness, and a quiet home, this beautiful girl will continue to blossom and show her gentle side.
Sometimes the cats who hide the most simply need someone willing to move at their pace — and Bonita is worth that patience. ??
