Located At: Sacramento County Animal Care Services
Name: My name is Bob.
Description: I am a neutered male, buff Domestic Shorthair.
Age: The shelter staff think I am about 7 years old.
Weight: I weigh approximately 13.40 lbs.
More Info: I have been at the shelter since Jul 31, 2025.
Shy kitty who would appreciate a quieter household. He has a stocky/muscular body frame. He is sharing a habitat with 2 female cats without issues.
Bob is FIV+, so he must be an inside only cat. FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) is a slow acting virus that affects the cat's immune system. FIV is a cat-only virus, and cannot be transmissible to humans or other species of animals. FIV is not spread casually, like in litter boxes, food and water bowls, or when snuggling and playing. Instead, FIV is spread through serious, penetrating bite wounds -- The type of bite wound that is seen most often in feral, intact tomcats -- or by blood transfusions. FIV+ cats can live in a household with other non-FIV+ cats if they are all non-aggressive. Cats that live together without fighting and are easy going in nature are at little risk for becoming infected. Cats with FIV can live very long, perfectly comfortable lives. Provide FIV+ cats with a good diet and annual veterinarian exam, and address any secondary health concerns as they arise.
**WALK IN SHELTER TO ADOPT Tuesday Noon-5pm, Wednesday 12-6pm, Thursday-Sunday Noon-5pm (Closed Mondays and Holidays). All adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis. To help expedite the meet & greet process, please bring a hard copy of a completed adoption application found here https://animalcare.saccounty.gov/Documents/AdoptionApp_Cats.pdf and provide Animal ID numbers of the kitties you might be interested in meeting. Be sure to bring your ID with you too!
