Meet James! This handsome young black cat is leaving his difficult past behind and looking toward a bright future. When James first arrived at the shelter, he was in rough shape, but he's healing beautifully, and his sleek, shiny black coat is growing back in.
James is one of those cats who simply wants to be close to his person. He'll happily lean against you, stand in your lap, or curl up right beside you, soaking up all the affection you have to give. While he can be a little nervous at times, it's easy to see that underneath it all is a gentle, loving soul who's ready to leave survival mode behind and learn what it feels like to be truly safe.
Like many cats, James can become overstimulated during long petting sessions and may give a gentle "love bite" when he's had enough. Learning to recognize when he needs a break and giving him time to relax will help him feel secure and allow his confidence to continue growing. Because of this, James would do best in a home without young children.
James is looking for a more predictable home where he can enjoy plenty of one-on-one attention and finally be spoiled the way he deserves. With patience, kindness, and lots of love, this sweet boy is sure to blossom into a devoted companion and loyal best friend.
