Animal information

A130529

Located At: Fairbanks North Star Borough Animal Control
Description: Shelter staff named me Mudgee.
I am a spayed female, blk tick and brown Australian Cattle Dog mix.

Age: The shelter staff think I am about 3 years old.
More Info: I have been at the shelter since Oct 09, 2026.
Mudgee (A130529) is a 3-year-old heeler mix who weighed just over 60lbs at intake, but is a bit overweight!

Medical: Courtesy of the shelter fund, Mudgee was sent out for radiographs of her hips and pelvis. It was found that she has arthritis in right stifle and a luxating patella. At this time surgery is not waranted. However, it is crucial that Mudgee goes on a diet to help her joints. She is currently about 20 pounds overweight. We encourage her next owner to work on her weight loss and bring her in for routine weight checks at their vet. She is a young dog and protecting her joints is important as she ages!

10/09/26 Mudgee is back again, but due to no fault of her own. Her prior owner stated that she is housebroken, kennel trained, and rides well in the car! It was noted by her prior owner that Mudgee does not like poor weather or very cold temperatures, and she may refuse to go outside during those times. She was said to know quite a few commands, (Sit, stay, wait, heel and come), and for the most part she minds her manners, but may get into the trash when left unattended. Mudgee was said to do well with people of all ages and does well with dogs and cats, but please ensure you are performing those introductions in a safe, slow, and controlled manner. Mudge is quite a bit overweight and would highly benefit from a diet. Mudgee is looking for her forever home, hopefully one with a big, warm, cozy bed that she can curl up in. If you are interested in meeting with Mudgee, please let us know!

09/21/24 Miss Mudgee is back at the shelter because her previous owners were struggling to potty train her. Mudgee is looking for a patient home willing to give her time on learning the fine ropes of being a house dog. She was checked out by the shelter veterinarian, who discovered that Mudgee has been battling a UTI which may have contributed to her potty training issues. Now that she has received an antibiotic injection, she is ready to find her new home! Mudgee was said to live mainly outdoors in a kennel when left home alone. She has previously done well with kids and other dogs. Mudgee does not have experience with other animals. She has been known to get into the trash when given the opportunity and generally was said to not mind very well. However, she is very sweet and affectionate pup who may love going to a basic obedience class with a certified trainer to help her bond with her new family and learn some manners! If you are interested in meeting Mudgee, please give the shelter a call!

04/12/23 Mudgee is a sweet puppy who was brought to the shelter as a stray with no background information. She was sent to a foster home where they worked with her on kennel training and potty training! She did well with the smaller, older dog in the home. Her foster family named her after a small gorgeous town in Australia, which was inspired by her beautiful coloring. Her foster family stated that she is very smart and also noted that she 'smiles' when she is excited and wants to play! Mudgee is hoping to find an active family that has the time and energy for a smart, sweet, athletic pup!
