Animal information

A142250

Located At: Fairbanks North Star Borough Animal Control
Description: My name is Loba.
I am a spayed female, tricolor German Shepherd Dog and Australian Cattle Dog.

Age: The shelter staff think I am about 1 year and 4 months old.
More Info: I have been at the shelter since Jun 29, 2026.
Loba (A142250) is a 1-year-4-month-old GSD x heeler mix who weighed 56.7 lbs at intake!

06/29/26 Loba is back at the shelter and looking for her new home. Sadly, she was surrendered for the same reasoning as before – she does not possess training and is looking for an owner who can devote the time to her. We strongly encourage her next owner to speak with a certified trainer and get her enrolled in training. She is a smart girl and is truly hoping someone with the time, patience, and energy will help her succeed! Loba was noted to bark at other dogs, but has limited experience with other pets. Slow, safe, and controlled introductions are key! If you are interested in meeting Loba, please let us know!

05/30/26 Miss Loba was brought back to the shelter after a short adoption due to her lack of training and poor adjustment to the home. Loba Boba, as the shelter staff have taken to calling her, is a young, high energy dog. She needs help with her training. Enrolling her in a basic obedience class with a certified trainer would be a great place to start! Her most recent owner said it appeared that Loba may not have had much experience being loose inside. She had some destructive tendencies, so it will be important to work on directing this behavior toward enrichment and appropriate chew toys. Loba was also said to be very strong on leash, and the one time she slipped her collar, she ended up playing keep away until a neighbor caught her. We highly encourage her next owners to reach out to a local certified trainer and to do their own research on positive reinforcement training. Loba is very eager to please and can be a great dog with the proper time and attention. If you think you are the person that can help Loba be the best that she can be, please give us a call!

05/23/26 This happy-go-lucky lady is Loba! Loba was surrendered to the shelter due to her previous owners moving out of state. She was described as a playful and friendly dog. She has been known to have a rough play style, so while she likes kids, please keep this in mind if you have small ones in the home. Loba was said to be kennel trained and housebroken. She knows some basic commands, and she will wait by the door when she needs to go outside. Loba was said to love being outside, and she was very respectful of the 4ft fence at her previous home. Loba does not have much experience with other dogs, and she will bark and run away from them at first. Slow introductions will be very important in her new home. She has been known to be vocal at times, and she has a lot of energy and will chew and dig if her energy needs are not met. Providing her with plenty of enrichment, exercise and appropriate chew toys can help with these habits. If you are interested in meeting Miss Loba, please give us a call!
